Your Time is Now

BradyOn September 2nd the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published their weekly data update indicating that 94% of COVID-19-related deaths had occurred in people with underlying health problems – chronic illnesses (heart disease, diabetes, obesity, etc.) were the biggest risk factor. Interestingly, 98% of chronic illnesses are diseases of lifestyle, meaning the choices that YOU make over a long period of time CAUSE your body to become sick.

Since there is no shortage of opinions in this country right now, I won’t tell you all of my thoughts.But basically, each one of us is responsible for our own health – no one else. Health is not something that can be socialized, meaning you can’t take health from someone who is super healthy and sprinkle it onto a sick person to make them healthier. To improve your health,you have to change your choices and ultimately your lifestyle; there is no alternative. A pill cannot save you from the devastating effects of chronic illness either. The 94% of people who died from COVID-19 with underlying health problems weren’t just the ones who forgot to take their cholesterol or diabetes medications.

The only way to truly become healthier and function better is by living what I like to call the chiropractic lifestyle. The chiropractic lifestyle is one where you eat well, move well, think well, and live a life free of spinal misalignment so that your body can perform at its peak potential. The catch is, in order to truly achieve optimal health and function, these things must all be done together. You can have a perfect diet, but if you don’t give your body the exercise that it needs, you are not healthy. If you meet your genetically intended exercise/movement requirements, but eat Big Macs every day, you are not healthy. If you eat healthy and exercise but have spinal misalignments that have begun to decay and interfere with how your body functions, you are not healthy! Health is like a bunch of gears rotating in a watch – if one stops, it derails the entire system. It sounds blunt, but there really is no other way around it.

So, what should you do RIGHT NOW to improve your health? I think a good place to start is by shifting your focus towards YOUR CHOICES – things you can control – and away from what you can’t… who is/isn’t wearing a mask, who is/isn’t socially distancing, who’s voting for who. Those things won’t impact your health near as much as your own choices. Your choices have the single greatest impact on your health, and are within your control. If you are someone who has high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, or has diabetes, or is obese, start making BETTER CHOICES right now.
